Eurowings (code EW) is the low-cost airline of the Lufthansa Group, based in Germany. It is a European Union company, so Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 applies to all its flights departing from the EU and those arriving in the EU.
When you receive compensation from Eurowings
- The flight arrived at its final destination with at least a 3-hour delay (the arrival time counts, not the departure time).
- The flight was cancelled and you found out less than 14 days before departure.
- You were denied boarding (overbooking) or missed a connection in a single booking due to a delayed flight.
- Amount: €250 for up to 1,500 km, €400 between 1,500 and 3,500 km (and for all EU flights over 1,500 km), €600 for over 3,500 km.
- You do not receive compensation if the delay was caused by weather, an air traffic control strike, or other extraordinary circumstances. Technical defects and airline staff strikes are not considered extraordinary circumstances.
- In Romania, you have 3 years from the flight date to claim your money.
How to claim the money yourself from Eurowings
- Submit your request via the contact and service section on eurowings.com: https://www.eurowings.com/en/information/service/contact.html
- You will need your booking code, flight number and date, boarding pass, and IBAN.
- If they refuse, you can request free mediation from Schlichtung Reise & Verkehr (Berlin).
- If they refuse or do not respond within 30 days, you can file a complaint with ANPC for flights departing from Romania; for flights from another country, contact the national body of the departure country (the official list is on the European Commission website).
Assignment and representation at Eurowings
Eurowings does not publish rules that prohibit claims submitted through recovery companies or via assignment, and German law allows for assignment without the airline's consent. Many law firms in Germany state that Eurowings often only pays after receiving a lawyer's letter or through legal action, so it is worth being persistent.

Let us recover your Eurowings compensation
Eurowings often refuses or delays passenger claims. We fight in your place.
- Takes 2 minutes. Enter your flight, date, and email, and we will check the actual delay using flight data for free.
- No upfront costs. Our commission is 25% and you only pay it if we collect your money. If Eurowings doesn't pay, you owe nothing.
- We don't give up after the first refusal. We demand proof of extraordinary circumstances and keep pushing until we receive payment or reach the ANPC.
- We handle everything else: we monitor the 30-day deadline, follow up with the airline, and if they refuse without valid reason, we notify the ANPC. You won't have to send another email.
- You receive 75% of the collected amount directly into your account within 5 working days of collection. You can check your claim status anytime in the app under "Tickets".
